CCG Adds Experienced Policy Expert to Analyst Team

The Castetter Cannabis Group is thrilled to announce the recent hiring of Kate Hruby, MPA, to the position of Lead Policy Analyst. A native New Yorker, Kate brings nearly eight years of combined experience in public policy research and analysis, legislative advocacy, report preparation, and professional writing to the policy analysis team.
About Kate:

Kate flew south after undergrad at CUNY Brooklyn College to begin her career in as an education journalist for The Index-Journal, a daily newspaper located in South Carolina’s Lakelands region. For her work at The Index-Journal, Kate received the 2014 First Place Award for Education Beat Reporting from the South Carolina Press Association.
Exposed to the benefits good public policy can have on a community through her journalism and seeking to make a greater impact, she then decided to pursue graduate studies at the University of South Carolina, where she was named a Max Holland and Mitch Sizemore Scholar by the South Carolina City and County Management Association, earning a Master of Public Administration (MPA) in 2018.

While in grad school, Kate worked for the South Carolina Office of Regulatory Staff as a policy researcher and data specialist and served as Research Director for the South Carolina Senate’s Family and Veterans’ Services Committee under Chairwoman Katrina Shealy. In 2019, Kate formed Strategic Palmetto, LLC, a South Carolina-based policy consulting company, specializing in data analysis and policy promulgation for small business and non-profit clients, including South Carolina Women in Leadership.
